Early Native Americans used all the resources available to them. No plant was without value. What we have come to regard today as nuisance plants would, for them, have been used in some fashion, even if they were not cultivated. These early settlers of the Southwest would have seen the functionality—and therefore the beauty—of all plants. The Paaqu [«Shoot»] represents the intriguing beauty of elemental plant parts.
